Kitchen Plus Privacy Policy

Kitchen Plus ("we", "our", "the app") helps you track the food in your kitchen, scan receipts, plan meals and waste less. This page explains what the app collects, why, and who it is shared with.

Kitchen Plus contains no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tracking software. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers.

Information We Collect

• Phone number — to create your account and sign you in by one-time SMS code. No password required.
• Profile details you enter (name, currency) — to personalise the app.
• Kitchen inventory, shopping lists, meal plans, and meals marked as eaten or wasted — these are the core features of the app.
• Photos of receipts and food you choose to scan — to read item names and prices so you do not have to type them.
• Photos of meals you log — to estimate the foods on the plate, their portions and calories. The photo stays on your device.
• Barcodes you scan — to look up product and nutrition information.
• Recipe links you paste or share into the app — to read the recipe from the page or video and save it under your account.
• Your Kitchen Plus Pro subscription status — to know which features your plan includes. Payment is handled by Apple or Google; we never see your card.
• Household names you add in Settings — names only, so a meal you cook can record who ate it. No age, sex or weight. They are deleted with your account.
• Your voice, when you tap the microphone on Quick log — turned into words by your phone's own speech service (Apple or Google) so you can say what you ate. Nothing is recorded and no audio reaches us.

Recipe searches are answered from the recipe catalogue bundled with the app; nothing you type is sent to a search service.

Meal reminders, if you switch them on, are scheduled on your phone and never sent from a server. The camera is used only while you are actively scanning. Kitchen Plus does not collect your location, contacts, calendar, browsing history, or a list of other installed apps. If you enable biometric unlock, your fingerprint or face data never leaves your device and is never seen by us — the app receives only a yes-or-no answer from your operating system.

How We Use This Information

Everything collected is used to provide the app's features: signing you in, storing your kitchen, tracking freshness, matching recipes to what you have, reading receipts and photos, estimating nutrition, and managing your shopping list and meal plans. We do not use your data for advertising.

Third-Party Services

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Cloud Functions) — hosts your account and all app data described above.
• Google Gemini — receipt, food and meal photos you scan, to extract item names, prices, portions and calories; the text or video of a recipe link you import; a dish name you log that the catalogues do not hold; a scanned product's name, brand and size when nobody has reported its price. Never your identity.
• YouTube Data API — the id of a YouTube video you import, to check it can be read. There is no search.
• ScrapeCreators — the address of an Instagram, TikTok or Facebook post you import, to fetch its caption and video. The video is kept only while the recipe is read, then deleted. No account details are sent.
• SponsorBlock — the id of a YouTube video you import, to find where sponsor and intro segments are. No account details are sent.
• RevenueCat — your account id and your App Store or Google Play purchase, to verify a Kitchen Plus Pro subscription. Never your phone number or kitchen data.
• Open Food Facts — barcode numbers you scan, to retrieve product information. No account details are sent.
• TheMealDB — requests for ingredient images only. No personal data is sent.

These services process data on our instructions. No third party uses your data to track you across other apps or websites.

Prices Shared With Other Users

If you leave Share prices anonymously switched on (Profile & settings), the price you paid for a grocery, its name or barcode, the store and the day are added to a shared pool that helps every user's shopping list start at a realistic price. Nothing identifying you is included — not your name, your account, your receipt, or the other items on it — and a price is shown to others only once several people have reported it. You can switch this off at any time.

This is the only circumstance in which anything you record in Kitchen Plus reaches another user.

Data Security

Your data is private to your account. Server-side security rules ensure only the signed-in owner can read or write their own inventory, receipts, shopping list and meals — no other user of the app can reach your data. Data is encrypted in transit.

Data Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account inside the app. This permanently removes your profile, inventory, inventory history, receipts and receipt photos, shopping list, meal plans, meals logged, imported and saved recipes, remembered prices, meal photos on the device, your plan record and the matching RevenueCat customer. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

Children's Privacy

Kitchen Plus is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page.
